About Me:
Hello! My name is Terrianne, I'm in my early (ish!) 50's, and I live in Suffolk County with my husband Ray and our two grown sons, who commute to college while living at home.
I've cared for pets my entire life, and have extensive experience with dogs, cats and birds, as well as freshwater aquariums, live poultry, and some reptiles and amphibians.
I worked as a foster with various dog rescues for many years, and had been providing drop-in pet sitting services for over a decade. Eventually I realized that pets do not thrive with drop-in care. That's when I decided to pursue live-in pet/house sitting, and it has turned out to be everything I'd hoped for, and more.

Benefits of a Live-in Pet Sitter
As a life-long and current pet owner, I understand that trips out of town can be quite stressful. Boarding your pet away from home is disruptive, and unfortunately, oftentimes traumatic for your beloved companion.
One alternative to boarding is a "Drop-in" sitter, where someone comes to your home two or three times a day to provide food, water, and minimal human interaction for your pet.
Here's the thing: Drop-in sitters only work for a very small minority of pets.
While undoubtably less traumatic than boarding, most pets become lonely and confused at the long stretches of solitude without a human presence, especially if this arrangement is extended beyond a day or two.
Also, every animal is unique, and, just like we humans, pets that are particularly sensitive (and senior pets especially) are more susceptible to being negatively affected by disruptions in their daily routines that are inevitable with boarding or “drop-in” care.
This is why a live-in pet sitter is the ideal solution!
Why I Love what I Do
I've been a writer all my life, and was eager to devote more time to this passion once my children were grown. I was surprised to learn that, after so many years where my primary role was "Mom", it wasn't so easy to simply switch gears when they hit that magical age of 21.
I am so proud of my two sons, and also grateful that they've been able to navigate their undergraduate and graduate studies financially. Because of their hard work and intelligence, they both recieved generous scholarships that paid for their respective tuitions. Room and board, however, was not part of their awards, which meant both had to accept commuting to and from their campuses.
My husband Ray and I are happy to be able to support our kids through this intermediate time in their lives. The only downside is that our home is busy with a lot of hustle and bustle/comings and goings, which makes it difficult for me to tap into that creative zone and headspace where I can write.
Petsitting has proven to be my ideal solution, as it allows me to connect with my creative self in new settings while also granting me companionship and love from the precious animals I care for until their owners return. I go home refreshed, inspired, and eager to share my experiences with my family.
Roman, the best Golden to have ever stolen my heart!
What sets me apart from other sitters is my devotion to adhering to your beloved pets routines. Just like us, dogs, cats, and pet birds find comfort in consistency, which is why I feel strongly about sticking to the daily rituals your pet is used to while you’re away.
I am an animal lover to the core, so sharing love and companionship with your pets isn’t a chore to me, but rather something I look forward to, and find soothing to my soul.
You can take comfort while you’re away knowing your beloved pets are not just safe with me, they’ll also be loved. And while they’ll certainly be delighted to see you upon your return, they will also be relaxed and content, having been affectionately cared for during your absence.
Important:
My priority is to keep your pets healthy and content, and to keep home not just safe, but also fresh and tidy for your return.
I take your privacy very seriously, and will respect all off-limits areas of your home.
I will never have anyone visit without explicit permission beforehand. I am transparent and honest; Please don’t feel funny about any special instructions or questions you may have!
I bring my own food/drink, sundries and bath towels for all of my housesits.
Scout the Goldendoodle, my New Year's Petsitting girl, she LOVED her tennis balls!
Besides writing, I enjoy crafting, metal detecting, history, and exploring nature. When on housesits I can focus exclusively on these things while loving your pet and caring for your home.
I am a sensible, down to earth, responsible person, and am more than happy to provide you with photos and updates via text or phone about your precious pet while I'm sitting, if you so desire.

Terrianne looked after my cat Leo as if he were her own. She asked thoughtful, smart questions upfront to prepare for any possible scenario, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. Leo is usually a very finicky eater, but somehow she figured him out—she told me he actually enjoys cold canned food, and sure enough, he ate every meal!
She sent me daily photos and videos, including some absolutely adorable moments with her son, who she had mentioned might visit. One photo showed him gazing at Leo with the sweetest grin, and another captured him gently rubbing Leo’s head—Leo actually looked like he was smiling. I jokingly started calling her son "the cat whisperer." There were also some heartwarming shots of Terrianne cuddling with Leo, and again, he appeared to be smiling!
I told my friends that not only did I go on vacation, but Leo did too. He was showered with more love and attention than I ever expected—and honestly, more than I can usually give him with my busy schedule. We’re both very lucky to have found Terrianne!

Terrianne was perfect! Really we appreciated her so much, as did our kitties. Everyone got along great, and Terrianne was communicative and cared for our house in every way. We would highly recommend her always! Thank you Terrianne.

Um WOW. Weve had many many sitters and Terrianne has to be one of .. if not.. our favorites. She texted updates and sent photos daily (per our request), she left our home sparkling clean, and left us a beautiful hand drawn art piece as a thank you note. ABOVE AND BEYOND!

Julie:
We cannot say enough good things about Terrianne. She is the perfect Trusted Housesitter. She legitimately LOVES the animals that she cares for and always takes such special care of our dog Roman, giving him baths when he needs them, letting him sleep in bed with her and making sure he gets plenty of exercise.
She is also incredibly responsible and always checks in well in advance of our departure to confirm times and details and has accommodated all of our travel needs. She takes spectacular care of the house and we always find it even neater and cleaner than we left it. She is a true responsible, caring adult and we really appreciate her!
Terrianne is also a great communicator and sends us pictures and videos of Roman and asks questions when needed.
Anyone who gets to have Terrianne sit for them is extremely lucky!

Terrianne went above and beyond with caring for my senior dog Ginger for 2 weeks, I was fortunate to meet her when she cared for another pet in my building and liked her right away. She and Ray were warm, always smiling and clearly love dogs. If there were 10 star ratings, I would rate them 11

It doesn’t get any better than this! Terrianne spoiled my pups rotten, including buying them little sweaters, and celebrating one of their birthdays with a candle and song 😄 They received so much love while I was gone. And my house was immaculate when I returned home!

I can’t praise Terrianne enough for her care of my little furry guy Odie. She was responsible, reliable and a pleasure to have her sit for Odie. She also was flexible when I needed to add another week to the sit. Although I was out of the country she sent me fun photos and videos of my little guy. If that wasn’t enough my house was sparkling clean when I returned. She a lovely person and I’d love to have her sit for me again!!

Rex:
Terrianne and Ray were absolutely great sitters for our two kitties. Both cats were quickly comfortable with them and are as happy as can be with their week. Terrianne especially went above and beyond to win over Midnight, our extremely shy and skittish black cat, and I think Ray was Maisie's best bud. I really appreciated the short little videos she sent me daily showing how the girls were getting along. Those kept me smiling through the trip. The house is in great shape, and they left it clean and ready for our return. Thanks for everything!

Terrianne is a wonderful person and terrific cat sitter. She was in regular communication…sending us video clips of Freddie and he seemed so happy in her care. Additionally, Terrianne took great care of our home. Upon our return we found replacement tissues, toilet paper and lovely soap…totally not necessary, but appreciated nonetheless. We highly recommend Terrianne ♥️

Terrianne was an absolutely incredible pet sitter and Housesitter. She was extremely communicative the entire 3-week stay, sending plenty of updates and pictures. She's very responsible, the cats were given the best care possible, and also given lots of love and attention. She also left my apartment spotlessly clean. Could not ask for a better pet sitter!

It was wonderful to have Terrianne stay at our home and sit for our BooBoo, Allen. From the moment she accepted the sit, Terrianne was in communication with me to make sure all responsibilities were discussed and answer any questions I could have about her and her experiences. She was even kind enough to come meet Allen before the sit so he could get a feel for her and go over his routine. This made the whole experience much less stressful and our time away very relaxing and enjoyable. Terrianne would send daily updates and pics of Allen during the stay as well as asked any additional questions that came up after her initial visit. She was very considerate of our home and even left the laundry in the washer for me to make it easier. I would definitely ask Terrianne to watch Allen again in the future as I know he would be well loved and cared for in our absence.

If I could give Terrianne more stars, I would. From our first introduction, I knew Terrianne was a true animal lover who would treat my pets as her own. I have a bunch of old cats with some special needs, a turtle and some chickens so this wasn’t the easiest sit. Terrianne quickly stepped into their routine, sent me daily updates, and left my home as tidy as could be. I returned to very contented looking Kitties. Lastly, Terrianne left a note describing “her take” on each of the pet’s personalities and it blew me away by the accuracy. It was as if she had known them their whole lives. Thank you, Terrianne.

My beautiful sister Christine; When we were young, my nickname for her was "Pal". She was my friend and ally. Her Spirit inspires me daily 💜
Purple Universe
In May of 2023 my beloved sister, Christine, passed away after bravely battling an aggresive cancer. Though only 6 years older than me, she had always been like my second mom, especially because of our situation growing up in a single-parent household with five children.
In the last weeks leading up to her passing she and I had many deep and meaningful disscussions. One of her dying wishes was for me to finally get out of the rut I'd been in for several years, and become my best self. She told me to think of her when times got hard, and keep pushing to reach my goals.
Purple was always Christine's favorite color, and she said that after she's gone, whenever we see the color purple, we should think of her.
I know she is so proud of the personal and spiritual strides I've made since I started live-in petsitting in early 2024. She is truly my inspiration to keep pursuing my dream of writing, and, along with my supportive husband and two children, has been the wind beneath my wings.
